Nehemiah 13:20-21 So the merchants and sellers of all kind of ware lodged without Jerusalem once or twice. Then I testified against them, and said unto them, Why lodge ye about the wall? if ye do so again, I will lay hands on you. From that time forth came they no more on the Sabbath.
Who is standing outside the gates of our soul to do business with us? Nehemiah was very strict that no one should stand outside the gates of Jerusalem and trade on the Sabbath. He warned the merchants that if they would continue to do that he would lay his hands on them. It says in verse 21 “from that time they came no more”. Who are the merchants vying for our souls?
Are we on the alert about those that maybe wanting us to stray from the great Shepherd of the sheep? Let us gird up the loins of our mind and set our face as flint so that no one except He who has purchased us by His blood is entitled to do business with us.
Let all other merchants stay outside and by our persistent position in Christ they will flee and not torment us any longer.
